THE
JOURNAL OF RESEARCH & EDUCATION IN INDIAN MEDICINE (JREIM)
has been established and launched to aid the dissemination of
important researches and theoretical works in different area of
common interest to the educators, researchers, specialized and general
therapists of Indian
Medicine, which includes Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani,
Sidhha, Homeopathy (AYUSH) and other Traditional / Alternative /
Oriental Systems of
Medicine.
The
inaugural issue (Jan.-March 1982) of JREIM was released by
Dr.Sombhong Kutranon, Regional
Director, W.H.O. during International conference on
“Role of Practitioners of Indian Medicines in Primary Health
Care” at Institute of
Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, 20-22
February’1982.
An universal
need has been felt since long by the scientific community with high
expectations from organized institutions like the Banaras School of
Indian medicine, for the academicians, researchers and specialized
therapists of the Faculty of Indian Medicine, Banaras Hindu
University have been pioneer in the field of education, research and
hospital services, their enormous contributions in the field of
research along international standards are now recognized.
In
recent past, there has been an awakening of International
consciousness towards Indian Medicine. The curiosity of health
caretakers, medical institutions, social scientists and
pharmaceutical concerns is fast
changing into serious interest in Indian Medicine. India and its
neighbouring countries are now fully alive towards the
potentialities of Indian Medicine- Ayurveda, Yoga
and Naturopathy, Unani, Sidhha, Homeopathy (AYUSH) and
other alternative traditional systems of Medicine.
It
is believed that an International journal from Banaras is the right
media for propagating and popularizing this unique Indian heritage-
the knowledge of life sciences across the frontiers of our country.
It also aims that by monitoring up-to-date data with news and view
of medical sciences, it will help the various education and research
institutions of Ayurvedic Medicine in particular and Indian medical
community in general, to keep abreast of time.
The
journal will maintain highest academic standard, for eminent
academicians and researchers of India and abroad, with extensive
editorial experiences in the field of Indian Medicine are
contributing their academic services to it.
The
journal also aims to encourage the exchange of ideas and information
throughout the world among the workers of different disciplines who
are focusing their attention on important aspects of the
inter-relationship between various systems of medicines, like
Ayurveda, Unani,
Yoga, Siddha, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Western systems of medicine
and allied socio-medical sciences.
Publishers
of the journal hope that with willing co-operation and good will of
educationists, researchers, Ayurveda/pharmaceutical industry and
elites of the society, the journal shall be able to emphasize the
legitimate relevance of Ayurveda/Indian medicine for the betterment
of global health care delivery systems.
Aims’ and Scope
The
Journal of Research and Education in Indian Medicine i.e Ayurveda,
Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Sidhha, Homeopathy and other alternative
traditional / oriental systems of Medicine. has been
established to aid the dissemination of important research and
theoretical works in all areas of common interest to the doctors,
researchers and therapists of Indian Medicine and allied sciences.
The Editors and the Publishers hope to encourage the exchange of
ideas and information throughout the world among those engaged in
different disciplines who are focusing their attention on aspect of
the inter-relationships between the various systems of medicine like
Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Naturopathy, Homoeopathy, Western system of
medicine and allied bio-medical and socio-medical sciences. Papers
will be published covering all those aspects of medical anthropology
economics, education, psychology, social work and sociology which
directly relate to any of the problems of mental and physical
health, and all those aspects of medicine including epidemiology,
medical education and practice, psychiatry, public health and
nursing which directly relate to any of the medical sciences. The
Editors, invite for editorial review and rapid publication original
reports of systematic studies and research in which at lease one
variable in concerned with Indian Medicine, medical education or
medical services. They are equally interested in receiving
significant and theoretical contributions. Additional features will
include: book reviews, proceedings of symposia, monograph
supplements, details of research (planned and progress),
correspondence.
Information
for Contributors
Research
Papers/ contributions for editorial consideration can be sent, on CD
with three printed copies , directly to the Editors
or to the relevant Consultant/Associate Editors. Books review and
other enquiries regarding publication of symposia and monographs
should be sent to the Executive Editor.
It
is a condition of publication that manuscripts submitted this
Journal have not been published and will not be simultaneously
submitted or published elsewhere. By submitting manuscript, the
authors agree that the copyright
of their article is transferred to the publisher if and when the
article is accepted for publication.
Style
of Manuscript
Manuscripts
should be typewritten on one side of the paper (290x215mm) with
double spacing and liberal margins and should be submitted in
Triplicate. The title of the paper and the author’s name, address
and a running title (not more than 50 letters) should be given on a
separate covering sheet.
Abstract
and Keywords: A short abstract (in triplicate) not exceeding 250
words and 4 to 6 key words must accompany the manuscript on a
separate sheet.
Reference:
Correct references are the responsibility of the author(s).
References should be cited in alphabetical order and list placed at
the end of article. This should be abbreviated in the style of the
World List of Scientific Periodicals. For Example :

Illustrations:
Illustrations and tables accompanying manuscripts should be numbered
provided with suitable legends, and marked lightly on the back with
the author’s name, Author should indicate on the manuscript the
appropriate Positions of table and text figures. Special
arrangements must be made with the Executive Editor for, colour
plates, or extra illustrations, and payment made in advance.

Referring
Procedure
To
ensure fairness, each manuscript will be assessed anonymously by two
independent reviewers. Constructive criticism provided by the
assessors will be forwarded to the author
Proofs will
not be sent to the author(s). Typed scripts on MS Word should be
carefully checked before submission on CD with three print
outs on A4 Size paper.
Reprints : Reprints can be
ordered on payment of a nominal cost after the paper is accepted for
publication.
